Introducing Timeless Parenting Episode 10.
In recent decades, Christian churches in the West have seen a growing number of teenagers and young adults dropping out of church and dropping out of the Christian faith.
So why is this happening? And what can parents do about it?
This episode of Timeless Parenting was recorded live at the recent Mothers Union Sydney seminar, ‘Standing Firm and Standing Out’, held on February 28 at St Andrew’s Cathedral Sydney. In the final session of the day, we listened in on a lively conversation between Al James, a father of four and Youth Ministry Advisor with Youthworks, and Beth Braga, a mother of eight, teacher and the creator of the ‘It’s Music Time’ play group program.
To begin with, our speakers explored the question of why young people are opting out of their parents’ faith. According to the research, the reasons can include aspects of the young people’s faith, as well as their families and churches.
However, our speakers spent the majority of their time discussing what parents can do, under God, to help their children develop a robust, coherent and liveable faith that will stay with them into adulthood.
This conversation is packed with helpful research, real life examples and biblical encouragement. You will come away equipped with practical things you can do today to help your children build a resilient faith—to help them stand firm and stand out in this changing world.
