Local not-for-profit organisations involved in social justice

There are many excellent not-for-profit organisations that facilitate social welfare support and awareness, both domestically and internationally. Many of these were founded by Christians driven by Christ’s mandate to love, to assist those struggling and sharing the gospel with them. Naturally we cannot support all of them equally, since the sheer breadth of choices would stretch that support to being ineffectual. However, as you consider exploring the options, it is wise for parents to make a thorough investigation of each organisation so that you know the underlying purpose of each as well as their effectiveness.

Below are a number of excellent Christian charities, some of which you’ll be familiar with, where you can find a broad range of causes to contribute to as well as excellent resources to inform and enthuse your children in the activity of social justice. In listing these organisations, Growing Faith does not necessarily endorse all their activities or underlying beliefs—rather, they are examples of popular charities known to and used by Australian Christians. As a responsible parent, you will need to assess them on their own merits, perhaps with prayerful consultation with your local church family.
